Anticipated publication date: Second quarter 2012

Perl Regular Expressions: Beyond the Basics Using SAS, by Toby Dunn, is an example-driven, multifunctional book designed to help SAS users of all skill levels learn and use Perl Style Regular Expressions. It teaches the reader the basics of the Regular Expression (RegEx) language as well as the differences between metacharacters, metasymbols, and metasequences, using easy-to-follow examples. It then discusses the PRX family of SAS functions, which are used to interface with the RegEx engine. The book is broken into two main parts. The first part covers topics such as character classes, quantifiers, extended RegEx sequences, and word and line boundaries. The PRX family of SAS functions is the focus of part 2, where Dunn discusses the specific syntax and shows real-world, solution-based examples of each PRX function and Call routine.
