News about SAS/ETS

What's New in SAS/ETS 9.3

New features and three new procedures have been added to SAS/ETS 9.3. Some of the highlights:

  • The new COPULA procedure fits multivariate distributions using copulas, which are functions that decompose the dependency (correlations) between variables from the marginal (univariate) distribution of each variable.
  • The new SSM procedure provides powerful and versatile tools for state space modeling and forecasting of time series and longitudinal data. SSM provides many features, including a modeling language that makes it easy to specify complex state space models in terms of simpler component parts, the ability to fit time-varying effects which can depend on user-specified parameters in complex ways, and to fit state space models for irregularly spaced data and replicate measurements for time points.
  • The SEVERITY procedure offers many powerful new features for modeling the size of losses or insurance claims. PROC SEVERITY provides several new features specifically for actuarial science applications in the insurance industry, such as modeling the effect of deductibles and coverage limits on the probable levels of future insurance policy payouts.
  • With 9.3, SAS/ETS provides a new data access engine for the CRSP/Compustat Merged Database, which combines the Compustat Xpressfeed data with the CRSP Stock, Indices, and Treasury databases in one convenient source.
