SAS Visual Analytics enables you to gain insight from all of your data, no matter the size of your data, with no need to subset or sample the data.

On the surface, SAS Visual Analytics is an integrated suite of web applications that offers intuitive, drag-and-drop interactions, rapid, highly visual responses, and role-based access to functionality.

• Administrators prepare data sources and load them to memory.
• Analysts interactively explore, analyze, and interpret data.
• Report designers create compelling reports and dashboards.
• Report consumers view reports on their mobile devices (using native apps from SAS Mobile BI) or on the web.

Behind the scenes, SAS LASR Analytic Server applies analytics to big data. The server functions as an analytic platform, providing speedy, secure, multi-user access to in-memory data in a distributed computing environment. The server also handles smaller data sets and supports an alternate, single-machine configuration.

At the foundation, SAS Visual Analytics is built on the SAS Intelligence Platform, which provides a robust, metadata-centric environment for a wide range of business intelligence and analysis activities.

SAS Visual Analytics 6.1 Now Available

This update introduces two new applications, the SAS Visual Data Builder and the SAS Visual Analytics Administrator. The SAS Visual Data Builder replaces the data preparation interface in the previous release. The SAS Visual Analytics Administrator enables you to manage SAS LASR Analytic Servers, load registered tables to the SAS LASR Analytic Server, configure row-level security, manage mobile devices that access SAS Visual Analytics reports, and load tables to co-located providers such as HDFS, Teradata, and Greenplum database servers. SAS Visual Analytics continues support for distributed SAS LASR Analytic Server and adds support for non-distributed servers. The SAS Visual Analytics Explorer has a new treemap visualization type, fit lines, and a forecasting feature. The SAS Visual Analytics Explorer home page now enables you to refine your search results and to view thumbnails or lists of items. The SAS Visual Analytics Designer has a new precision report layout, new report objects and controls, and new report views. The SAS Visual Analytics Designer now enables you to add SAS stored processes to reports.

SAS LASR Analytic Server 1.7

SAS Visual Analytics continues to be the primary solution for utilizing SAS LASR Analytic Server. The server is an in-memory analytics platform specifically designed to accelerate analytic computations.

This update adds support for non-distributed SAS LASR Analytic Server. This server provides the in-memory analytics of SAS LASR Analytic Server for deployments that do not have the data volumes that demand a distributed computing environment. However, support for distributed computing environments is continued. This update also provides the IMSTAT procedure. The initial release of the IMSTAT procedure enables administrators to perform server management with SAS statements.

SAS Mobile BI 2.1 for iPad Released in Feb 2013

SAS Mobile BI enables users to view SAS Visual Analytics reports on Apple iPads. This version provides the following new capabilities:

• When reports or dashboards are arranged by using precision layout, the app displays the layout in the report.
• When reports include geographical maps and KPI gauges, the app displays the maps and KPI gauges in the report.
• When reports include radio buttons, check boxes, or sliders to select filters, the app enables these filter selectors.
• When a report provides conditional highlighting or interactions in graphs and tables, users can explore data by using conditional highlighting and interactions.
• Users can scroll through multiple report objects that are grouped together.
• Users can view data in list tables and cross tabs, as well as hierarchical data in tables and graphs.
• Users can read and respond to comments about a report or a report object from the SAS Mobile BI application. Users can also attached files to comments.

The app also includes a number of improvements. You can download the free app from the Apple iTunes store.

SAS Mobile BI enables users to view SAS Visual Analytics reports on Android tablets. By using the SAS Mobile BI app, you can do the following:
