SAS® Data Management

Improve, integrate, manage and govern your data in a solution built on the SAS® platform. SAS Data Management helps you access the data you need, create rules, collaborate with other teams and manage metadata so you're prepared to run analytics for better decision making.

The most recent release is SAS Data Management 2.6.

What’s New

The fourth maintenance release for SAS 9.4 for SAS Data Integration Studio 9.402 includes the following enhancements:

  • Four new transformations: Amazon S3, sFTP, Cloud Analytic Services Transfer and Data Loader Directive.
  • Added support for the REDSHIFT engine and the Cloud Analytic Services source designer.
  • Enhanced support for the SCD Type 2 Loader transformation.
  • Added support to run in-database version of the TRANSPOSE procedure inside HADOOP and TERADATA using the Transpose transformation.

In the fourth maintenance release of SAS 9.4, SAS Data Quality Server now interoperates with SSL-enabled DataFlux Data Management Server.

DataFlux Data Management Studio now supports ODBC drivers for Apache Hive and Cloudera Impala.

DataFlux Data Management Studio enables you to store a DataFlux repository on the SAS Web Infrastructure Platform Data Server. You first create an ODBC connection to the server and then use this connection to create a DataFlux repository on the server.

When you update DataFlux Web Studio 2.4.1 to Web Studio 2.5 at the same time that you update DataFlux Data Management Studio 2.5 to Data Management Studio 2.6, you must add two options to the Web Studio server app.cfg file. If you do not add these options, Web Studio Server will not start after the upgrades. The following options are required:

  • BASE/REPOS_VERSION_ACCEPT_LOW=8
  • BASE/REPOS_VERSION_ACCEPT_HIGH=8

The interface for customizing a Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) has been enhanced. You can browse, test and edit your QKB definitions from within DataFlux Data Management Studio. Capabilities have also been added for searching and filtering QKB definitions and libraries.

SAS Business Data Network 3.1 enables you to manage a business data term list. It supports a collaborative approach to managing the following information:

  • Descriptions of business terms, including their requirements and attributes.
  • Related source data and reference data.
  • Contacts (such as technical owners, business owners and interested parties).
  • Relationships between terms and processes (such as SAS Data Management Studio jobs, services and business rules).

SAS Business Data Network also provides workflow support that enables you to divide the responsibilities for creating, reviewing and approving terms among the members of your team. In this way, each role can be fulfilled by the most qualified member of the group.

SAS Lineage 3.1 is a web-based diagram component for visualizing relationships between objects. It is used as a stand-alone lineage and relationship viewer that can be accessed by SAS database management and business intelligence applications. The component has two modes. First, a network diagram displays all relationships. Second, two left-to-right dependency diagrams are available: one that displays data governance information (governance) and another that displays parent and child relationships only (impact analysis).

DataFlux Business Data Network and DataFlux Lineage were extracted from DataFlux Web Studio and used as a basis to create the new SAS products. DataFlux Web Studio 2.5 no longer includes these components.
