Steps for Getting Started
Once you've received your Software Order Email (SOE) from SAS, follow these steps to get your installation underway. This information, which is meant to supplement the documentation available on the Install Center, will help you review your SAS software order, create a SAS software depot and deploy your software.
Your first step is to review the information in your SAS Software Order Email. Below, choose the video that corresponds to your software delivery method.

Your next step is to create a SAS software depot. Watch a video below that corresponds to your delivery method to get started.
If you need to move your software depot from one host operating environment to another (e.g., from a Windows operating environment to a z/OS operating environment), you can use the SAS software depot copy utility. For more information, see "Chapter 2: Moving Between Non-Shared Network Locations" in the SAS Deployment Wizard and SAS Deployment Manager 9.4: User's Guide.

Installing SAS Foundation and related software
The following resources are related to installing SAS Foundation (for example, Base SAS and other SAS products that do not include a metadata server):

- Installing SAS Foundation and related software for UNIX operating environments. (Refer to the documentation on the Install Center.)
- Installing SAS Foundation and related software for z/OS operating environments. (Refer to the documentation on the Install Center.)
Performing metadata server-based deployments (planning order)
If your deployment includes a metadata server, your order is considered a "planning order." You will need a plan file to install and configure your software. The information found on the Performing metadata server-based deployments page includes links to documentation to help you install an order that is of the deployment type planning. Planned deployments tend to require more experience.
Migrating metadata server-based deployments
If you are ready to migrate to SAS 9.4, please read the migration documentation closely. If you have not previously completed a similar migration, review the documentation on the Migration webpage under Where do I start?. Additional documentation and papers, such as "Peaceful Coexistence: Multiple SAS Releases" plus SAS notes are included under the right-hand Hot Topics menu on that page.
