Installation Note 61511: Supplemental installation and configuration instructions for SAS® IT Resource Management 3.9

DetailsAboutRate It

SAS Technical Support will update this SAS Note with important information about the installation or configuration of SAS IT Resource Management 3.9. Bookmark this note and refer to it when performing those activities.

z/OS Environments Only

When you configure SAS IT Resource Management on the middle tier with a metadata server in the z/OS operating environment, the SAS® Deployment Wizard might fail. The wizard can fail if the SAS® Environment Manager Service Account (sasevs) is not defined. For more information, see SAS Note 53273, "The SAS® Deployment Wizard fails when you configure SAS® Environment Manager if the metadata server is in a z/OS operating environment."

Windows Environments Only

You might encounter SSL errors in SAS IT Resource Management 3.9 jobs. For more information, see SAS Note 62089, "You receive 'The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted' when you run jobs in SAS® IT Resource Management 3.9 under Windows."

Windows and Linux Sites Only

When you execute staging jobs, the adapter jobs logs might contain unnecessary messages related to "MVA_DSIO.OPEN_CLOSE" and "_DISARM." For more information, see SAS Note 62086, "Unnecessary messages such as "MVA_DSIO.OPEN_CLOSE| _DISARM" might be written to the log file when you execute jobs."

All Environments

See the following additional instructions:

  • To support the inclusion of MSU and MIPS columns in staged tables for the IBM SMF adapter, SAS IT Resource Management supplies an initial copy of the ITMS_SMF_LSPRDATA SAS data set. The version of the Large System Performance Reference (LSPR) table that forms the basis for this table is applicable to the z/OS V1 R13 operating system. For information about how to update the ITMS_SMF_LSPRDATA SAS data set using a URL, see Method 1 of the "Methods for Including MIPS and MSU Columns in Staging Tables" section in the SAS® IT Resource Management: Administrator's Guide (for your release of the product). Sites that run z/OS V2 R1 and later should change the SAS code to reference the following URL: http://www-304.ibm.com/servers/resourcelink/lib03060.nsf/pages/lsprITRzOSv2r1?OpenDocument

  • The SAS IT Resource Management Report Center is a SAS® Web Server application that you can configure to use SSL 3.0. However, when the application is configured to use SSL 3.0, the SAS IT Resource Management Report Center is affected by the POODLE vulnerability that is described in these documents:

To disable SSL 3.0 on these servers, follow the instructions in the "SAS® Web Server Application" section in SAS Note 54376, "Disabling Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 3.0 in SAS® Web Server, SAS® Web Application Server, and SAS® Environment Manager Server." When you run the default multiple-managed application server, the location of the server.xml file for the SAS IT Resource Management Report Center server instance is as follows:  SAS-configuration-directory\Levn\Web\WebAppServer\SASServer10_1\conf\

In a single-managed application server, the location is as follows: SAS-configuration-directory\Levn\Web\WebAppServer\SASServer1_1\conf

  • The SAS IT Resource Management Exception reports are not generated unless you explicitly add the fonts location to the whitelist. For more information, see SAS Note 57440, "Exception reports are not generated in SAS® IT Resource Management 3.7 and later unless you explicitly add the fonts location in the whitelist."
  • SAS IT Resource Management graphs might not render correctly and return Class Not Found Java exceptions. For more information, see SAS Note 62195, "The 'java.lang.ClassNotFoundException...' might occur when a graph tries to render in SAS® IT Resource Management."
  • The IT Resource Management Report definition task is not available in SAS® Enterprise Guide® after an upgrade is performed in place to SAS IT Resource Management 3.6 or later. For more information, see SAS Note 60157, "The ITRM Report Definition task is not available in SAS® Enterprise Guide® after you perform an upgrade of SAS® IT Resource Management in place."
  • Migrating from SAS IT Resource Management 3.2 or 3.3 to more current release might result in email notification functionality in the ITRM Report Center not working. For more information, see SAS Note 62206, "The SAS® IT Resource Management Report Center might not send expected emails after you migrate from an earlier release."
