Problem Note 53273: The SAS® Deployment Wizard fails when you configure SAS® Environment Manager if the metadata server is in a z/OS operating environment
The SAS Environment Manager Service Account might fail when you configure a SAS® Intelligence Platform or related SAS product (such as SAS® IT Resource Management) with the metadata server under z/OS. The problem occurs during the configuration of the mid-tier machine. This message appears in the SAS Deployment Wizard:
Unable to connect. This may be due to invalid credentials (user ID and/or password),
incorrect connection information (host and/or port), or no server running.
Circumvention
To circumvent this issue when this error appears, you can create the account manually using the following steps:
- Install the client tier products from your order on a different machine at your site. You must use a different machine because you cannot have multiple invocations of the SAS Deployment Wizard running concurrently.
- Start SAS® Management Console on the second machine and connect to your metadata server under z/OS.
- Create a new SAS Environment Manager Super Users group in the metadata by selecting Actions, New, and then Group.
- On the General tab, enter the following values:
Name: SAS_EV_Super_User
Display Name: SAS Environment Manager Super Users
Description: SAS Environment Manager Super Users
- Click OK to create this user group.
- Create a new SAS Environment Manager App Server Tier Users group in the metadata by selecting Actions, New, and then Group.
- On the General tab, enter the following values:
Name: SAS_EV_AppServer_Tier
Display Name: SAS Environment Manager App Server Tier Users
Description: SAS Environment Manager App Server Tier Users
- Click OK to create this user group.
- Create a new SAS Environment Manager Guests group in the metadata by selecting Actions, New, and then Group.
- On the General tab, enter the following values:
Name: SAS_EV_Guest
Display Name: SAS Environment Manager Guests
Description: SAS Environment Manager Guests
- Click OK to create this user group.
- Create a new SAS Environment Manager Service Account user in the metadata by selecting Actions, New, and then User.
- On the General tab, enter the following values:
Name: sasevs
Display Name: SAS Environment Manager Service Account
- On the Groups and Roles tab, select add for the following groups/roles from the Available Groups and Roles panel to the Member of panel:
- Metadata Server: unrestricted
- SAS Administrators
- SAS Environment Manager Super Users
- On the Accounts tab, click Update to create an Internal Account for the new user.
- A dialog box appears, showing an internal account of sasevs@saspw. Enter a password for this internal account and then confirm it.
- Click OK to create this new user.
- Assign the SAS Environment Manager Super Users group to the SAS Administrator user.
- Click SAS Administrator under the User Manager window.
- On the Groups and Roles tab, add the SAS
Environment Manager Super Users group from the Available Groups and Roles panel to the Member panel.
- Click OK to save the user change.
