Usage Note 62206: The SAS® IT Resource Management Report Center might not send expected emails after you migrate from an earlier release

DetailsAboutRate It

When you migrate from SAS® IT Resource Management 3.2 or 3.3 to a later release, the SAS IT Resource Management Report Center email notification functionality might not work as expected. You might not receive emails about reports and a message similar to the following appears in the ITRM ReportCenter log file:

[tomcat-http--50] - java.lang.NullPointerException

This issue occurs because the SAS_ITRM_RC_Email_Message.st notification template is missing on the source machine.

The IT Resource Management email notification template is stored in this location: http://xyz.abc.com:<port>/SASContentServer/repository/default/sascontent/System/Applications/Templates/notification/en. In the URL, replace xyz.abc.com with the host name reference where the SAS® Content Server is running and <port> with the listening port for that host.

If the email notification template does not exist, you need to create it by completing the following steps:
  1. Log on to the Admin console at http://xyz.abc.com:<port>/SASAdmin. Replace xyz.abc.com with the host name reference where the SAS® Content Server is running and <port> with the listening port for that host.
  2. Navigate to SAS Web Administration Console ► Environment Management ► Notification ► Templates.
  3. Click the plus (+) icon to add a new template.
  4. Enter the following name for the template: SAS_ITRM_RC_Email_Message.
  5. Click Save. The template is added.
  6. To update the template, copy the content from the following location: <SASHome>\SASITResourceManagementMidTier\3.9\Config\Deployment\Content\Templates\notification\en. The template has three sections: HTML, TEXT, and SMS text message.
  7. Update the content for all three sections and save the file. For example, copy the following HTML content into the HTML section.
<div class="title">
<span class="text">$DESC$</span></div>

<p>$TO$</p>

<p>$MSG$</p>

<ol>
$REPORTS:{

<li>$it.keys:{k | <a href=$k$>$it.(k)$</a>}$</li>

}$
</ol>
For more details about how to create and update templates, refer to the “Managing Notification Templates and Letterheads” section in the SAS® 9.4 Intelligence Platform: Middle-Tier Administration Guide, Fourth Edition.
