Microsoft Systems Center 2007: Operations Manager Integration
The Enterprise Management Integration (EMI) community site is organized to provide SAS®9 Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) customers with tips, techniques, and tools for integrating and interfacing with vendor enterprise IT system management facilities. We have partnered with Microsoft to develop and implement a Systems Center Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 management pack. The management pack is in development at this time and is scheduled for availability in the second quarter of 2008.
Systems Center 2007 Features
- Improves service levels with end-to-end service management
- Enables operations and IT staff to identify and resolve status and/or health issues within the environment

SAS 9.1.3 Management Pack
The SAS Management Pack for SCOM 2007 will allow SAS 9.1.3 EBI customers to assess and manage the key applications within the distributed framework. Server integration will include the Metadata Server, StoredProcess Server, Workspace Server, OLAP Server, SAS/Connect and a number of the key SAS Web Applications that execute within a Web Application Server. Management pack features include:
- Status and health of the SAS EBI servers
- Monitoring of server logs for key events
- Event management and alerting for status changes
- Administration of the servers to enable start, stop, restart facilities
- Automated installation and integration into the SCOM 2007 environment

NOTE: Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Integration
Customers may observe that during 2007 the EMI team was developing a MOM 2005 integration pack. The MOM 2005 integration package project was dis-continued in favor of implementing an SCOM 2007 management pack. There are a number of attractive new features in SCOM 2007 which encouraged our team to pursue a new course of action related to a Microsoft Management Pack.
