System Requirements
SAS® Enterprise GRC 5.1

Overview

This document describes the minimum requirements for installing and running SAS Enterprise GRC 5.1 software, which includes Administrative Tools, a Web Application, and Reporting. SAS Enterprise GRC 5.1 requires SAS 9.3M1.

The information in this document is current as of the release date of SAS Enterprise GRC 5.1.

Note: If a platform or third-party product is not listed, it is considered not supported.

Server Tier Requirements

SAS Enterprise GRC Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS Enterprise GRC Server includes two standard SAS/ACCESS engines of choice (Oracle, ODBC, Microsoft SQL Server, or DB2).

Note: SAS/ACCESS Interface to Microsoft SQL Server runs on all supported SAS platforms except Microsoft Windows. With Microsoft Windows platforms, you have to use SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC.

SAS Metadata Server

Please select a target environment:
SAS recommends that you deploy SAS Metadata Server on a 64-bit host system. The SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded and multi-core server hardware (typically quad core or higher) is recommended. A dedicated machine for the SAS Metadata Server is recommended to simplify tuning, management, and diagnostics, but is not required. The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8GB of RAM is sufficient for most large deployments. 4GB of RAM is sufficient for many deployments and should be considered a minimum unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.

Middle Tier Requirements

SAS Enterprise GRC Mid-Tier

Please select a target environment:

Memory
Only 64-bit operating systems are supported. The recommended minimum memory requirement for SAS Enterprise GRC 5.1 is 8 GB.

Application Servers

The list of application servers that SAS supports is updated as new software is tested and approved. For the latest information, please select the link for Web Application Servers and HTTP Servers at http://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/index.html.

Database

SAS Enterprise GRC requires one of the following databases:

  • Oracle
  • PostgresSQL
  • DB2
  • SQL Server

The following database versions are supported:

  • Oracle Enterprise Edition 9, 10 and 11 are supported (a documented bug in Oracle requires that version v 10.2.0.3 not be used).
SAS Enterprise GRC requires a JDBC jar file from each database vendor that is suitable for the version of Java being used by the Application Server (JBoss, WebLogic or WebSphere). Suitable JDBC jar files will be installed with your Oracle Client & Server. Alternatively, you can download Oracle drivers from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/index.html. The JDBC driver version must be compatible with the database version.
  • PostgreSQL 8.4+
SAS Enterprise GRC uses the postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc3.jar PostgreSQL driver. You can download a copy of the PostgreSQL driver from http://jdbc.postgresql.org/download.html.
  • DB/2 9
SAS Enterprise GRC requires the db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar files. For example, a Windows installation of DB/2 stores the .jar files in C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\java by default.
  • SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, or 2012

SAS Enterprise GRC can use any of the following drivers:

    • SQL Server Native Client 2008 driver, “Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client.”
    • SQL Server Native Client 2008 R2 driver, “Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client.”
    • SQL Server Native Client 2012 driver, “Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0.”

Note: Microsoft SQL Server is only supported on Microsoft Windows environments.

SAS Enterprise GRC 5.1 depends on SAS Shared Services for various components. For example, SAS Workflow is delivered with the SAS Intelligence Platform as a component of SAS Shared Services. In addition, SAS Enterprise GRC uses SAS Content Server for storing files in the WebDAV repository.

Recommendation for SAS Shared Services Database

CAUTION: Do not use the SAS Framework Server as a database for SAS Shared Services.

You should not use the SAS Framework Server as a database for SAS Shared Services. SAS Enterprise GRC requires that you use PostgreSQL, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle as your RDBMS. Therefore, you should also configure the SAS Shared Services database on the same RDBMS that you configure for SAS Enterprise GRC.

Client Tier Requirements

SAS OpRisk Global Data

Please select a target environment:

The SAS OpRisk Global Data machine also includes SAS OpRisk Global Data software which is updated on a monthly basis. Although file sizes vary slightly each month, you will need about 160 MB of disk space for the installation.

SAS Enterprise GRC Client

Please select a target environment:

Web Browsers

SAS 9.3 supports the following Web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 7, 8, and 9
  • Firefox 3.6

Note: SAS Enterprise GRC 5.1 requires Adobe Flash Player 10.0.0. (If it is not already installed on the client machine, the Web browser will prompt you to install it.)

SAS AppDev Studio

Please see the SAS AppDev Studio system requirements for the latest information about its requirements.
