FAQs for Tracks Administrators

Can I grant access to my users so they can view tracks that were opened with email addresses other than the email address that is registered in their profile?

Yes. Click Administer Tracks Special Users in the upper-right corner of the Technical Support Tracking Entries - Administrator View Web page to grant access. In the Requestor field, enter the email address that is registered in the user's profile. In the May View Tracks of field, enter the email address in which you want to grant access. Click Add User to complete the process. You may grant access to as many additional email addresses as needed.

Tracks application users can initiate these requests from their view of the Tracks application. You will receive an email notification for the request, and each request is added to the Special Access Requests table. Click the appropriate radio button in this table to approve or deny each request.

Which tracks can I see?

When customers open a new track, they provide their site number.  You will be able to see tracks opened in the past seven years with site numbers that match those for which you have authorization to view.

What track content can I see?

You will be able to review any email that is sent between the track owner and SAS Technical Support, including attachments.  If no email has passed between the track owner and SAS Technical Support, you will be able to review only general information about the track.

Can others at my site be granted administrator rights?

Yes.  Click Administer Tracks Administrators in the upper-right corner of the Technical Support Tracking Entries - Administrator View Web page to grant such privileges to other employees at your site.  These privileges include:

  • the authority to view tracks from the last seven years that are associated with your site number(s)
  • the authority to create or delete other administrator accounts

The SAS Installation Representative/SAS Site Representative account cannot be deleted.  To change the designated SAS Installation Representative, complete the Update Administrative Information form.

Can I update a track?

You can update any track by sending an email to support@sas.com.  Include the track number (for example, 7612345678) in the email subject line.  Be sure to add the name of the track owner in the Carbon Copy (Cc:) box if you want the email to be available for display within this application.

Can I associate more than one email address with a track?

No.

How do I use the Track Info field?

This field is provided for you to enter personal notes regarding a track.

You can use this field to add reminders or other comments.  You might find this field helpful for sorting tracks into separate projects or for filtering other tracks from the list.

Note that your notes can be viewed and modified by the track owner.

Can I use the Track Info field to communicate with the SAS consultant?

No.  This field is visible only to you, your SAS Site Representative, or by anyone to whom your SAS Site Representative delegates this capability.  To communicate with the consultant responsible for your track, click Update this track in the track listing.
