The SAP
BW Register Tables wizard enables you to browse through InfoCube and
ODS table metadata and then select the SAP BW metadata objects (such
as tables and columns) that you want to use as data sources in SAS
Data Integration Studio. The SAP BW Register Tables wizard then creates
jobs that will extract the data from the selected SAP BW source tables
and load it into a SAS library.
Follow
these steps to select SAP BW objects using this wizard:

Select
StartProgramsSASSAS Data Integration Studio to start SAS Data Integration Studio.

Select
FileRegister Tables to start the Register Tables wizard.
The
Register Tables page displays.

Select
Enterprise ApplicationsSAP BW, and then click
Next.

From the
Configured SAP Server list box, select the SAP server
that enables you to connect to your SAP BW System.
From the
SAP Metadata Location list box, select the SAS library
to use for storing the SAP Infocube and ODS table metadata. Click
Next.

If you
are prompted with a
Log On dialog box, enter
the appropriate user name and password to connect to the SAS application
server that enables you to run a SAS session, and then click
OK.

The
Select View page
displays, where you choose to either browse or search your data. For
this example, select
SAP BW Explorer and
click
Next.
The SAP
BW Browser page displays.

Expand
the tree in the SAP BW Browser page as needed to browse through the
hierarchy of InfoAreas, ODS objects and InfoCubes, and then select
an ODS object or InfoCube.

After
selecting an ODS object or InfoCube in the SAP BW Browser, click
Next to display the next page in the SAP BW Register
Tables wizard.

If you
selected an InfoCube, then choose the InfoObjects that you want to
include when writing metadata to your metadata repository, and then
click
Next. The
Select Columns page
displays. If you selected an ODS object, skip this step.

On the
Select Columns page, select the columns that you want to include when
writing metadata to your metadata repository, and then click
Next.

In the
Select Extract Options window, specify the following:
-
a changed data capture (CDC) option
-
specify whether you want to create
a SAS view (if you selected an ODS Object)
-
select an extraction date (if you
selected an InfoCube)
-
select the local SAS library into
which you want to store the data
-
select a metadata folder location
to store the table metadata about the objects you are extracting from
SAP
Click
Next. The wizard finish page
displays.

Review
the metadata about the jobs and tables that will be written to the
metadata repository.

When you
are satisfied with your selections, click
Finish to write the metadata to the metadata repository and create the
jobs that will load your SAP BW data into the SAS library that you
specified. If an error occurs, the SAS log displays.
