SPD Engine System Requirements
The following general guidelines enable a minimum computer system to support the SPD Engine. Configuring a system to provide at
least one separate I/O path to the disks for each CPU is crucial to getting the best performance.
Windows, UNIX, and Open VMS Alpha Platforms
-
an SMP (symmetric multiprocessing) computer with at least two CPUs; four are preferred
-
at least one I/O channel per two CPUs
-
enough disk drives to have at least one mount point per CPU isolated on its own disk; two mount points per CPU are
better.
z/OS Platform
-
UNIX file system (zFS).
-
a single, multivolume zFS filesystem under storage management subsystem (SMS) control, in order to bypass the SMS class
selection routines (ACS) and require only one mount point.
