z/OS Sites

  • To support the inclusion of MSU and MIPS columns in staged tables for the IBM SMF adapter, SAS IT Resource Management supplies an initial copy of a SAS data set that is called ITMS_SMF_LSPRDATA. Method 1 of the section "Methods for Including MIPS and MSU Columns in Staging Tables" in the SAS® IT Resource Management: Administrator's Guide (for your release of the product) provides SAS code to update the ITMS_SMF_LSPRDATA SAS data set using a URL. Sites that run z/OS V2 R1 and later should change the SAS code to reference the following URL:
    http://www-304.ibm.com/servers/resourcelink/lib03060.nsf/pages/lsprITRzOSv2r1?OpenDocument
  • The SAS system option LRECL= must be set to the value 2048 to enable successful deployment or execution of supplied report definitions. For more information, see SAS Note 46512, "Batch report definitions in SAS® IT Resource Management 3.21 (and later) might fail with a warning and errors as a result of truncation."

  • SAS IT Resource Management calculates MIPS (a million instructions per second) and MSU (millions of service units) for batch jobs, TSO sessions, and OMVS sessions using Resource Management Facility (RMF) interval data in the SAS IT Resource Management table XJOBS table. Therefore, you must include RMF interval data with the System Management Facility (SMF) records that are used as input to XJOBS. Otherwise, the result will be missing values for these calculations. For detailed information about MIPS and MSU calculations, see the section "How MSU and MIPS Columns Are Included in Staged Tables for the SMF Adapter" in the SAS® IT Resource Management 3.3: Administrator's Guide.

All Sites

  • In SAS® Enterprise Guide® 5.1, the SAS® 9.3 Workspace Server in the z/OS operating environment must have the Work library configured in the UNIX file system. For more details, see SAS Note 45694, "SAS® Enterprise Guide® 5.1 requires that the SAS Workspace Server on a z/OS system have the Work library configured in the UNIX file system."
  • After installing and configuring the SAS IT Resource Management software, it is recommended that you install the latest hot fix. Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the latest hot fix for SAS IT Resource Management 3.3.
  • As a best practice, do not create IT data marts in a physical location where unrelated files or subdirectories exist. For more information, see SAS Note 52233, "Some files might be deleted inadvertently in a location where an IT data mart resides when you delete (erase) that data mart."
