SAS®  Output Delivery System (ODS)

Customize, format and direct SAS output to a variety of output destinations, including plain text, HTML, PDF, PostScript, RTF, XML, PowerPoint, Excel, and EPUB. The SAS Output Delivery System (ODS) is a flexible component of Base SAS that overcomes the limitations of traditional SAS output.

The most recent release is SAS Output Delivery System 9.4M6.

What's New

The following enhancements have been made to the Output Delivery System:

  • In SAS 9.4M5, enhancements have been made to the DOCUMENT procedure.
  • There are three new ODS procedures: PROC ODSLIST, PROC ODSTABLE, and PROC ODSTEXT.
  • The Report Writing Interface (RWI) is now in production.
  • The default style for all Printer family destinations (PS, PDF, PCL) has changed from Styles.Printer to Styles.Pearl.
  • The default HTML style for batch output has changed from Default to HTMLBlue.
  • Enhancements have been made to the ODS statements.
  • There are several enhancements and new options for ODS Graphics.
  • There are new ODS statements: ODS POWERPOINT, ODS EPUB, ODS LAYOUT, ODS HTML5, and ODS EXCEL.
  • New options have been added to ODS HTML and HTML5.
  • Enhancements have been made to the documentation.
  • ODS destinations support accessibility as follows:
    • In SAS 9.4M5, the ODS HTML5 statement supports a new style element to enable you to control the appearance of the link-focus indicator in ODS output.
    • In SAS 9.4M5, image maps are supported with SVG output in the ODS HTML5 statement.
    • In SAS 9.4M5 the ODS PDF destination supports accessibility when you specify the new option ACCESSIBLE.
  • In SAS 9.4M5, new options have been added to the ODS EXCEL statement.
  • In SAS 9.4M5, new options have been added to the ODS RTF statement.
  • In SAS 9.4M5, the Encore style has been added. This style is used with Avenir Next for SAS fonts in some versions of SAS Studio. In SAS 9.4M6, the default style for HTML 5.0 output has changed from HTMLBlue to HTMLEncore.
  • In SAS 9.4M6 the ODS destination for Word has been added as a preproduction destination. This destination creates Microsoft Word documents. The ODS destination for Word enables users to customize different aspects of the document, such as themes, tables of contents, and orientation.
