Note: SAS Risk Governance Framework ships with SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting, which must be installed with SAS Risk Governance Framework; it cannot be installed at a later time.
To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions and subsequent minor updates for each officially supported operating system. For example, if the baseline for SAS x is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4, SAS x will also support Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.9 under this policy. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document.
The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/baseline-and-higher.html.
As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs.
SAS Risk Governance Framework Server includes two SAS/ACCESS engines of choice (for Microsoft SQL Server, ODBC, Oracle, or PostgreSQL), and three SAS Metadata Bridges of choice.
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice, but it must match one of the SAS/ACCESS engines that were selected for SAS Risk Governance Framework. Others are licensed separately.
Note: Both the Distributed and Non-distributed versions of SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server include SAS LASR Analytic Server (Non-Distributed).
However, only SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server (Distributed) includes SAS LASR Analytic Server (Distributed).
SAS recommends that you install SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine.
SAS Solution LASR Analytic Server offers a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice for transactional data purposes, as available per platform. This SAS/ACCESS engine must be for the same data source as the engine that was selected for SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting server. Otherwise, they are licensed separately.
Co-located Data Storage
SAS LASR Analytic Server supports Hadoop data storage environments.
Use of a co-located Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) is optional, but it requires a supported Hadoop environment and SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop (which are included with your license). For information about supported Hadoop distributions, refer to https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/9-4/support-for-hadoop.html. The plug-ins require additional configuration. For more information, see SAS High-Performance Analytics Infrastructure 3.9: Installation and Configuration Guide at https://go.documentation.sas.com/doc/en/hpaicg/3.9/p01sashpanalytics00installgd.htm.

SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS Risk Governance Framework contains the SAS data server SAS Risk Governance Framework Data Server, which requires additional configuration.
The size of the data server is large.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" in SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability, at http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/intellplatform/tabs/admin94.html
SAS Risk Governance Framework requires one of the following databases:
The following database versions are supported:
A PostgreSQL 14.5 instance is also used for SAS Risk Governance Framework Data Server and is included with the SAS software.
SAS Risk Governance Framework uses the following drivers:
Note: Microsoft SQL Server is supported on Microsoft Windows environments only.
SAS Risk Governance Framework depends on SAS Shared Services for various components. For example, SAS Workflow is delivered with the SAS Intelligence Platform as a component of SAS Shared Services. In addition, SAS Risk Governance Framework uses SAS Content Server for storing files in the WebDAV repository.
Apache Solr is third-party open source software that can be obtained only through the external download site by customers who have a current SAS Risk Governance Framework license. While the Apache Solr software is optional, SAS strongly recommends installing and using it with SAS Risk Governance Framework.
SAS recommends that you install SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Mid-Tier on a separate machine.
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the middle tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
The SAS Visual Analytics Apps are supported on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, and on computers and tablets running Microsoft Windows 10. Each app is written specifically for its operating system and provides native support for these devices so that you can view reports on your mobile device. You can download the apps for free from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Microsoft Windows Store.
SAS recommends using the SAS Visual Analytics Apps for iOS, Android, and Windows 10 to view and interact with reports on mobile devices.
The list of web browsers that SAS supports is updated as new products are tested and approved. For the latest information, visit the SAS 9.4 Support for Web Browsers page at https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/9-4/support-for-9-4-web-browsers.html.
Offerings with integration to SAS Risk Governance Framework are not included and are separately licensed. SAS Model Implementation Platform 3.3 is approved to work with SAS Risk Governance Framework.
SAS software may be provided with certain third-party software, including but not limited to open-source software, which is licensed under its applicable third-party software license agreement.
