SAS Users Groups create opportunities for SAS users to connect accross the nation, while supporting and fostering an environment of growth, development and education amongst SAS users. These groups are volunteer organizations run by the SAS users.
Local users groups (LUGs) are intended for SAS software users from different organizations within a specific geographic area, for example, a city, county, or part or all of a state. Because of the close proximity of the members, these groups meet frequently during the year, usually monthly or bimonthly. Some meet quarterly. These groups bring together a broad range of user backgrounds, yet they are generally smaller than regional groups. Click here to find a group.
In-house users groups (IUGs) are composed of users within a single organization, as opposed to local users groups which may have members from many different organizations. IUGs may consist of users from one site or branches of the same organization. While in-house groups may not have the broad perspective of outside expertise, they are able to handle confidential topics and use actual data in discussions.
Special-interest users groups are vertically oriented. They are aimed at users who share similar tasks, operating environments, or industries. Some meet frequently, others on an annual basis. Click here to find a group
Regional users groups (RUGs) provide an intermediate level of users support, often broader than local or in-house groups, but narrower than SAS Global Forum. RUGs may be composed of several local, in-house, and/or special-interest groups; covering broad territories which generally include several states or Canadian provinces. Each regional group determines the services it will offer and the frequency, length, and agenda of its' meetings. Click here to find a group.
