Kirk Lafler

Kirk Lafler, consultant and founder of Software Intelligence Corporation, has been a SAS user since 1979. As a SAS Certified Professional, Kirk provides IT consulting services and training to SAS users around the world. He is the author of several books, including PROC SQL: Beyond the Basics Using SAS, and more than 100 peer-reviewed technical articles. Kirk also writes the popular SAS tips column, "Kirk's Korner," that appears regularly in several SAS Users Group newsletters, and is a frequent speaker at SAS Users Group meetings.

Alex Dmitrienko
Topic: Using SAS Software in the Design of Clinical Trials

Alex Dmitrienko, Ph.D., is Principal Research Scientist at Eli Lilly and Company. He is the coauthor of Analysis of Clinical Trials Using SAS: A Practical Guide and has published numerous papers. Alex is actively involved with the Business Intelligence SAS Users Group and the Pharmaceutical Industry SAS Users Group (PharmaSUG), and he won the American Statistical Association's 2005 Excellence in Continuing Education award for his co-presented course on clinical trials. He's currently working on a new book entitled Pharmaceutical Statistics Using SAS.

Jack Shostak
Topic: Statistical Programming in the Pharmaceutical Industry: Moving Forward, Confronting Challenges, and Embracing Opportunities

Jack Shostak is the manager of statistical programming at the Duke Clinical Research Institute and has been a SAS user since 1985. He's the author of the newly released book SAS Programming in the Pharmaceutical Industry, as well as the author of the chapter "Reporting and SAS Tool Selection" in "Reporting from the Field." Jack is active in the Pharmaceutical Industry SAS Users Group (PharmaSUG) and in SAS Users Group International (SUGI), and has written numerous papers.

Michael Raithel
Topic: Programmatically Measure SAS Application Performance on any Platform with the New LOGPARSE SAS Macro

Michael Raithel is a senior systems analyst for Westat. He has worked with information systems in the commercial and government sectors since 1980. An internationally recognized expert in the use of SAS software in mainframe environments, he is the author of numerous SAS technical papers and is a popular lecturer at SAS Users Group International (SUGI) and at regional SAS conferences. Michael is the author of Tuning SAS Applications in the OS/390 and z/OS Environments, Second Edition. His new book The Complete Guide to SAS Indexes will be available in February 2006.
