Subsetting SAS Software Depots - this is new in SAS 9.3 (see page 17 for more details)
Note: The ability to subset orders within a depot when it is
being moved or copied replaces the functionality that was available
in the SAS Administrator Wizard in previous releases of SAS. If
you are used to creating either a Client Users Depot or a Personal
Users Depot in earlier versions of SAS, use the information above to
select the specific products you wish to copy into a separate depot.
Such a newly created depot can serve the same function as those
depots did in previous releases.
For additional information see SAS Note 40426 "The SAS® 9.3 depot subsetting option replaces the client and server
installation model used by earlier SAS® releases for Windows
environments."

Both the SAS Download Manager and the SAS Deployment Wizard enable
you to put only part of your software order in a SAS Software Depot,
which gives you more flexibility in managing your SAS software order.
For more information, see “Subsetting SAS Software Depots.”

Frequently Asked Questions about Subsetting an Order
Can I subset a subsetted order?
Yes. You can subset any SAS 9.3 order, regardless of whether or not it has been previously subsetted. In other words, you subset orders, not SAS Software Depots.
If I am subsetting an order at download time, can I add this subsetted order to an existing depot?
Yes, provided that the target SAS Software Depot contains other SAS 9.3 orders.
Remember, SAS Software Depots cannot have orders from different
major releases of SAS® Foundation (for example, SAS 9.2).
Can I download a SAS 9.3 order to an existing depot that contains SAS 9.2 orders?
No. Orders can only be combined in common depots if they are from the same
major release. For more details see
SAS Note 42914 "A SAS
® 9.2 order cannot be combined with a SAS
® 9.3 order in the same SAS Software Depot."
Can I have a number of subsetted orders in one depot (add a subsetted order to an existing depot)?
You can definitely add orders (subsetted or not) from one depot to another
depot that also contains subsetted and non-subsetted orders.
How can I know which products are in an existing subsetted order?
There currently is not an easy way to do this. The best practice when
creating your depot is to provide a description. There are plans to provide an easier way to do this in a future release of SAS.
How can I tell if a depot contains subsetted orders?
Subsetted orders will have revised order numbers that contain a date and time suffix in the depotsummary.html file that is located in the root of the SAS Software Depot (for example, 012345_2011-05-04-17.44.09).
Can I add a product to a subsetted depot?
Only orders can be added to SAS Software Depots, not products. You can
add an order with additional products to an existing SAS Software Depot.
Adding this type of order has no effect on the orders that were previously added to
the target depot.
