Installation Note 38467: The projected size and the created size of a SAS Software Depot for Personal Users might not match exactly when you use the SAS® Deployment Wizard
You might notice a discrepancy between the projected depot size and the actual depot size for SAS Software Depot for Personal Users when you use the SAS Deployment Wizard to create the depot.
When you use the SAS Deployment Wizard to create a Personal Users depot, the program uses the SAS Administrator Wizard during the creation process. Under the SAS Administrator Wizard, the Select Components dialog box appears. This dialog box includes a section that shows Space Required and Space Available for the drive where the Personal Users depot is being created:
When the SAS Administrator Wizard finishes its tasks, control returns to the SAS Deployment Wizard. On the Adding SAS Software Order page that appears next, the number of bytes to be copied and the number of bytes copied are listed. Both of these numbers on this page do not match the number of bytes projected by the SAS Administrator Wizard on the previous page.
After you have created a SAS Software Depot for Personal Users, you can view the depot size in the Properties dialog box of the drive location where the depot for Personal Users is located. The depot size that is listed in the Properties dialog box also does not match the number of bytes that are projected by the SAS Administrator Wizard:
When you create a depot for Personal Users, the SAS Administrator Wizard enables you to select SAS® Foundation products. As products are selected or deselected, the size of the depot changes to reflect the space that only SAS Foundation occupies, not any other SAS products.
When control returns to the SAS Deployment Wizard to finish creating the SAS Software Depot, the depot contains the SAS Foundation products and all of the vertical, third party, and other products that are present in the order. The size discrepancy occurs because these products are not part of SAS Foundation.
The space requirement that is shown on the final progress bar in the SAS Deployment Wizard always does not match the space requirement that is shown in the SAS Administrator Wizard. However, the space requirement that is shown in the SAS Deployment Wizard is the most accurate depot size.
