Usage Note 38429: Generating journal files for the SAS® OLAP Server by using SAS® Management Console

Journal files can provide information that will help you troubleshoot problems and understand the queries that are being submitted to the SAS OLAP Server. To generate journal files, follow these steps:

  1. Stop your SAS OLAP Server.
  2. Log into SAS Management Console.
  3. Expand Server Manager ► AppServerNameAppServerName - Logical OLAP Server ► AppServerName - OLAP Server.
  4. Right click on AppServerName - OLAP Server and select Properties.
  5. Click the Options tab.
  6. Click Advanced Options.
  7. Click the Debug Query tab.
  8. Select only these two options: Print input MDX statement and Print Generated SQL.
  9. CAUTION: Do not select any other options. In addition, for performance reasons, you should disable these options after your goal is achieved.

  10. Restart your SAS OLAP Server.

The journal files will begin with SSNJxxx and they will be in a location such as C:\sas\sasconfigdir\Lev1\SASApp.
