To renew the SAS license for SAS 9.2, follow the steps show below:

Note: The default SID file name is SAS92_12345_site#_operatingsystem.txt, where 12345 is a unique order number for your site number, and operatingsystem is the valid operating system for the SID file. If you do not have the SID file, see the section "Obtaining a SID File," below.

  1. Close SAS.
  2. On Microsoft Windows XP operating systems, select Start ► Programs ► SAS ► SAS 9.2 License Renewal & Utilities ► Renew SAS Software.

For 32-bit SAS installations on a Microsoft Windows X64 operating system, select Start ► Programs ► SAS ► SAS 9.2 (32) License Renewal & Utilities ► Renew SAS Software.

For Microsoft Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems, see SAS Note 31290: "Renewing your license on a SAS® 9.2 personal installation on Windows Vista or Windows 7 with the Renew SAS Software tool."

  3. Navigate to the SAS installation data file (SID file) on your machine. Select the file and click Open.
  4. Click NEXT.
  5. Verify the operating system and SAS products and click OK.
  6. Click RENEW.

If the license renewal was successful, the following message is displayed:

    The setinit was successfully applied.

If it was not successful, the message indicates this and displays the location of the SETINIT.LOG file. Review the SETINIT.LOG file in a text editor to check for errors.

If applicable, restart your SAS servers and SAS spawners after you renew the SID file.

Obtaining a SID File

To obtain a SID file, contact your SAS installation representative. To determine the SAS installation representative who is responsible for your site, navigate to SAS Support Personnel at Your Site.

Make sure that you have your SAS site number and company name. This information is displayed at the top of the SAS log window when you first start SAS.

Alternatively, contact the personnel at your company who are responsible for SAS Installations.
