Server Tier Requirements

SAS Real-Time Decision Manager Server

SAS Real-Time Decision Manager Server includes two SAS/ACCESS engines of choice from the following list:

  • SAS/ACCESS Interface to DB2
  • SAS/ACCESS Interface to OLE DB [for use with Microsoft SQL Server]
  • SAS/ACCESS Interface to Oracle
  • SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata

DataFlux Standard Federation Server

Please select a target environment:

A DataFlux Standard Federation Server of choice is optional:

  • DB2
  • ODBC [for use with Microsoft SQL Server] 
  • Oracle
  • Teradata

DataFlux Authentication Server

SAS Metadata Server

SAS recommends that you deploy SAS Metadata Server on a 64-bit host system. The SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded and multi-core server hardware (typically quad core or higher) is recommended. A dedicated machine for the SAS Metadata Server is recommended to simplify tuning, management, and diagnostics, but is not required. The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8GB of RAM is sufficient for most large deployments. 4GB of RAM is sufficient for many deployments and should be considered a minimum unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.

SAS Real-Time Decision Manager has the following Java Application Server software requirements:

An application server is required and must be obtained from vendor.

  • The relevant Java 2 Software Developer Kits (J2SDK) and the latest information and special instructions can be found in the Third Party Support web site: http://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/v93/jdks.html

  • RDM requires IBM WebSphere ND 7.0.x or 8.0.x for its J2EE application server.

  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform Version 5.1 can be used for Linux (Redhat Enterprise Versions 5 update 4 and 6, and Novell SuSE SLES Version 11), Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, Solaris 10 and 11 for SPARC, Solaris 10 and 11 x86 (x64-86), HP-UX11i version 2, and AIX 6.1 and 7.1.

  • JBoss Community Edition Version 7 can be used for Linux (Redhat Enterprise Versions 5 update 4 and 6, and Novell SuSE SLES Version 11), Windows 2003 , Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, Solaris 10 and 11 for SPARC, Solaris 10 and 11x86 (x64-86),  HP-UX11i version 2, and AIX 6.1 and 7.1.  

Note: JBoss Community Edition is targeted for experimentation and exploring early feature capabilities; it is not supported for production use. All of the above are 64-bit versions only; 32-bit versions are not supported.

Hardware Requirements

Client Application Machine: Minimum Recommended 

An Intel or Intel-compatible Pentium class processor running at 2 GHz or faster is recommended.

Memory: 1GB or more above your current environment
