To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions, subsequent minor updates, and subsequent major versions for each officially supported operating system. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document. The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at https://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/baseline_plus.html.
As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs.
SAS Financial Management ships with SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting, which must be installed with SAS Financial Management 5.5; it cannot be installed at a later time.
SAS Financial Management Server includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice and three SAS Metadata Bridges of choice (plus General Industry Standards, which is included automatically).
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server (Non-distributed LASR) includes SAS LASR Analytic Server (Non-distributed LASR), and a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS Financial Management contains a SAS data server (SAS Financial Management Data Server), which requires additional configuration.
The size of the data server is medium.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see the section "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" in the guide SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability, Second Edition. at http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/intellplatform/tabs/admin94.html
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the middle tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
Note: SAS Financial Management Add-in for Microsoft Excel is a 32-bit Windows application. When run on top of an emulation of a Windows 32-bit operating system, it is supported on Microsoft Windows for x64.
SAS Visual Analytics Mobile Clients (SAS Mobile BI) are available for the Apple iPad and Android tablets via free downloads from app stores.
In this release, SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office requires the following software:
SAS Financial Management supports the following web browsers:
SAS Financial Management 5.5 uses Adobe Flash Player 11.1. For additional information, see "SAS 9.4 Support for Web Browsers and Plug-Ins" (http://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/v94/browsers.html#flash).
For more accurate hardware sizing (including migrations from prior releases) we recommend that all new sites, as well as those changing the scope or functional use of these solutions, consult the SAS Enterprise Excellence Center (EEC).
Failure to establish the SAS environment with the minimum specifications outlined by the EEC, as well as provide adequate storage and I/O, may result in undesirable end-user experiences and may also inhibit the ability of SAS to address performance concerns.
