System Requirements
SAS® Financial Management 5.4

Overview

To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions, subsequent minor updates, and subsequent major versions for each officially supported operating system. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document. The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at https://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/baseline_plus.html.

As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs.

Server-Tier Requirements

SAS Financial Management Server

Select a platform:

SAS Financial Management Server includes two standard SAS/ACCESS engines of choice and three SAS Metadata Bridges of choice (plus General Industry Standards, which is included automatically).

SAS Metadata Server

Select a platform:

SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:

  • a 64-bit host system
  • a dedicated machine to simplify tuning, management, and diagnostics
  • multi-core server hardware because SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded
  • four or more cores for production deployments

The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.

Note: SAS Financial Management Add-in for Microsoft Excel is a 32-bit Windows application. When run on top of an emulation of a Windows 32-bit operating system, it is supported on Microsoft Windows for x64.

Additional Requirements for SAS Financial Management Add-in for Microsoft Excel 5.4

Minimum:

    • Intel/AMD x86 and x64
    • Dual-core processor
    • 2 GB of available physical memory above what is normally utilized by all other applications such as operating system, email, Microsoft Office, and web browsers
    • Page file set to 1.5x physical memory as recommended by Microsoft and SAS

Recommended for consistent performance across all clients:

    • Intel/AMD x86 and x64
    • Quad-core or higher processor
    • At least 4GB of available physical memory above what is normally utilized by all other applications such as operating system, email, Microsoft Office, and web browsers
    • Page file set to 1.5x physical memory as recommended by Microsoft and SAS

Web Browsers

SAS Financial Management supports the following web browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 (on Windows 7 only)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 10

SAS Financial Management 5.4 uses Adobe Flash Player 11.1. For additional information, see "SAS 9.4 Support for Web Browsers and Plug-Ins" (http://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/v94/browsers.html#flash).
