To use SAS Data Loader for Hadoop with Kerberos-enabled Hadoop, you must configure SAS Data Loader for Hadoop for single sign-on to the middle tier with Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA).
To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions, subsequent minor updates, and subsequent major versions for each officially supported operating system. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document. The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at https://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/baseline_plus.html.
As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs.
Note: For MapR, SAS Data Loader for Hadoop 3.1 is only supported on Linux for the middle-tier and server-tier machines. However, SAS Metadata Server is supported on the standard platforms.
For information about supported Hadoop distributions, refer to https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/9-4/support-for-hadoop.html.
SAS Data Loader for Hadoop includes a SAS Quality Knowledge Base Locale of choice. If not specified, by default, SAS Quality Knowledge Base Locale for English (USA) will be included.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
Note: For MapR, SAS Data Loader for Hadoop 3.1 is only supported on Linux for the middle-tier and server-tier machines. However, the SAS Metadata Server is supported on the specified platforms.
SAS Data Loader contains the following SAS data server that requires additional configuration:
The size of the data server is medium.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see the section titled Initial Configuration Recommendations in the "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" section of SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability.
For MapR, SAS Data Loader for Hadoop 3.1 is only supported on Linux for the middle-tier and server-tier machines. However, the SAS Metadata Server is supported on the standard platforms.
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the middle tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
The list of web browsers that SAS supports is updated as new products are tested and approved. For the latest information, visit the SAS 9.4 Support for Web Browsers page at https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/9-4/support-for-9-4-web-browsers.html.
