Recertification Policy

In 2002, SAS instituted a recertification policy that requires selected certifications to be updated every 3 calendar years from the date of issuance. If SAS certified professionals elect not to recertify, their SAS certification becomes inactive. The following lists credentials affected by this policy:

SAS Certified Base Programmer
SAS Certified Advanced Programmer
SAS Certified Warehouse Development Specialist
SAS Certified Warehouse Architect

It is the individual's responsibility to keep their SAS credentials current.

Recertification Requirements

At present, all SAS Certified Professionals holding a version-less credential are required to get recertified within the 3-calendar year period from the date of earning a SAS Certified Professional credential. For example, an individual who earned a version-less SAS Certified credential on April 11, 2004, would have until December 31, 2007 to successfully meet their recertification requirement. Those holding expired credentials are encouraged to review the current credential offerings to determine their future SAS certification path.

Recertification is not required for individuals holding versioned certification credentials. The following credentials fall into this category:

SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9
SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9
SAS Certified Professional, V6
SAS Certified Professional, V8

Recertification will not be required for any future exams. Please review the table below which outlines how to proceed with your SAS certification path.

Similar to SAS' initial certification, the following rules apply:

Candidates may attempt each exam up to three times in a twelve-month period, waiting a minimum of 30 days between attempts.
If a candidate attempts, but does not pass the required exam for recertification before the recertification expiration, the certification will expire.
Version-less credentials expire three calendar years from the date of issuance.

Upon meeting your recertification requirement you will receive a new certificate, logo information, and certified professional directory instructions by e-mail.
