Policies & Agreements
Privacy Policy
In order to ensure the confidentiality of candidates, the SAS Certified
Professional Program will not provide names to individuals or companies
inquiring about the certification status of another individual. In all
cases, each candidate is responsible for demonstrating proof of
certification. To facilitate this process, candidates are encouraged to
add their names to the online directory of SAS Global Certifications. A
listing in the directory serves as verification of certification. To be
included in the directory, candidates must complete the information release
form enclosed in their welcome package. Additionally, a PDF version of the
release form is available for candidates to download along with
instructions for returning the completed form. Visit the
Certified Directory to obtain a replacement
copy of the release form.
On the release form, candidates need to provide their name, mailing
address, daytime phone number, and certification obtained.
Note:
Only the candidate's name, certification, state/province, and country will
be published in the online directory.
If candidates choose not to have their names listed in the directory, then
they may use their certificates as verification of their SAS Certified
Professional status.
Candidate Agreement
SAS Institute requires all certification candidates to accept and
agree to the terms of the
SAS Institute Inc. Certification Program
Candidate Agreement before taking a certification exam.
To view the agreement, download the free
Adobe Acrobat Reader.
For best printing results, select the Acrobat printer icon (will appear
in top left corner) instead of printing from your browser window.
Each time you take a certification exam at an Authorized Prometric Testing
Center, you will be required to assent to the SAS Institute Inc.
Certification Program Candidate Agreement by clicking on the "Accept"
button. By clicking on the "Accept" button, you acknowledge that you have
read, accept, and agree to be bound by the terms of the SAS Institute Inc.
Certification Program Candidate Agreement.
The SAS Institute Inc. Certification Program Candidate Agreement contains nondisclosure obligations,
trademark license rights, termination rights, indemnification obligations, disclaimers of
warranties and limitations of liability, among other items.
SAS Institute strongly recommends that you download the agreement
and review it carefully before
the day of an exam. Acceptance of the SAS Institute Inc. Certification
Program Candidate Agreement is a part of each exam. Additional
time is not allotted to review the SAS Institute Inc. Certification Program
Candidate Agreement during an exam.

Exam Retake Policy
Candidates may attempt each exam up to three times in a twelve-month
period, waiting a minimum of two months between attempts. The beta version
of an exam is not included as part of this restriction. Exam forms will
vary for retake examinations. The expense associated with retaking an exam
is not discounted.
Exams that do not comply with the retake examination policy will be
considered invalid and will not be eligible for a refund.
Recertification Policy
To ensure ongoing SAS expertise, the SAS Global Certification Program is
instituting a policy whereby SAS Global Certifications must be
re-certified every 3 years. This will benefit individuals and employers by
encouraging ongoing professional development in SAS knowledge. Please note
that this policy applies to version-less exams only.
Certifications may be renewed every three years indefinitely but it is
strongly encouraged to recertify yourself to insure your knowledge is
current. SAS offers two options to keep certifications current:
- Advance to the next level of certification
- Recertify at the present level
How to Recertify
SAS requires candidates to pass the appropriate SAS recertification
exam(s). In order to recertify, exam requirements must be met prior to the
end of the year of their current expiration date. Individuals with an
expired certification(s) must repeat the entire certification exam process
in order to regain their certification(s).
