Support for Java Development Kits

The Java Development Kits (JDK) versions listed below meet vendor requirements for the baseline versions of supported web application servers. In some cases, an updated version of a web application server might require a later version of the JDK than the version listed below. Please consult vendor documentation to be sure that the version of the JDK you choose meets the vendor's minimum requirements.

Windows 32-bit on x86

Java 5 Update 15 32-bit Download via Oracle
Notes: A 32-bit JDK is required, the 64-bit JDK is not supported. Be sure to select a download whose name includes "windows-i586". Java 5 is not supported on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. You must install Java 6 as listed below.

Java 6 Update 16 32-bit Download via Oracle
Notes: This version of the 32-bit JDK can be used with SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss AS 4.2.3.GA, JBoss EAP 4.3, and WebLogic 10.3 Application Server. It is required for WebLogic 10.3 Application Server deployments.

Windows 64-bit on x86-64

• Java 5 Update 15 64-bit Download via Oracle
  Notes: A 64-bit JDK is required for SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss Application Server. Java 5 is not supported on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. You must install Java 6 as listed below.
• Java 6 Update 16 64-bit Download via Oracle
  Notes: This version of the 64-bit JDK can be used with SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss AS 4.2.3.GA, JBoss EAP 4.3, and WebLogic 10.3 Application Server. It is required for WebLogic 10.3 Application Server deployments.

Solaris 64-bit on SPARC

• Java 5 Update 12 64-bit Download via Oracle
  Notes: A 64-bit JDK is required. Installation of the 64-bit JDK for Solaris requires installation of the 32-bit JDK first. Please review Oracle's installation instructions for more detail.
• Java 6 Update 16 64-bit Download via Oracle
  Notes: This version of the 64-bit JDK can be used with SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss AS 4.2.3.GA, JBoss EAP 4.3, and WebLogic 10.3 Application Server. It is required for WebLogic 10.3 Application Server deployments. Installation of the 64-bit JDK for Solaris requires installation of the 32-bit JDK first. Please review Oracle's installation instructions for more detail.

Solaris 64-bit on x86-64

  Notes: This version of the 64-bit JDK can be used with SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss AS 4.2.3.GA, JBoss EAP 4.3, and WebLogic 10.3 Application Server.   Notes: A 64-bit SDK is required. This version is also referenced as "build pap64devifx-20070725". This IBM SDK can be used with WebLogic 9.2 MP2 or JBoss 4.2
• Java 5 SR6b + IZ08455 64-bit, 5.0.0.163 fileset Download Instructions
  Notes: This IBM SDK can be used with WebLogic 9.2 MP3 or WebLogic 10.0. It can be obtained by following the download instructions referenced in the link column. The 64-bit SDK is required.
• Java 6 SR4 + IZ51489+IZ45701+IZ52413+IZ52880+IZ53551 64-bit Download via IBM
  Notes: This is a specific version of the IBM Java 6 SDK that must be downloaded from the provided link. It is required for and should only be used with SAS 9.2 deployments on WebLogic 10.3 Application Server. The access key LQJQBY8DJH is required to download this SDK.

  Notes: This version is the minimum for Power 7.

HP-UX Itanium

• 5.0.12 32-bit Download via HP
    Notes: A 32-bit JDK is required for SAS 9.2 deployments on WebLogic Server.
• 5.0.12 64-bit Download via HP
    Notes: A 64-bit JDK is required for SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss Application Server.
• 6.0.02 64-bit Download via HP
  Notes: This version of the 64-bit JDK can be used with SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss AS 4.2.3.GA, JBoss EAP 4.3, and WebLogic 10.3 Application Server. It is required for WebLogic 10.3 Application Server deployments.

Linux 64-bit x86-64

• Java 5 Update 14 32-bit Download via Oracle
  Notes: A 32-bit JDK is required for SAS 9.2 deployments on WebLogic 10.0 Application Server when running on SuSE SLES 10.
  Be sure to select a download whose name includes "linux-i586". The download whose names include "linux-amd64" are 64-bit and are not supported with WebLogic 10.0 on SuSE SLES".
• Java 5 Update 14 64-bit Download via Oracle
  Notes: A 64-bit JDK is required for SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss Application Server. A 64-bit JDK is required for SAS 9.2 deployments on WebLogic 10.0 Application Server when running on RHEL 5. Be sure to select a download whose name includes "linux-amd64".
• Java 6 Update 16 64-bit Download via Oracle
  Notes: This version of the 64-bit JDK can be used with SAS 9.2 deployments on JBoss AS 4.2.3.GA, JBoss EAP 4.3, and WebLogic 10.3 Application Server. It is required for WebLogic 10.3 Application Server deployments.

z/OS

• Java 5 31-bit SDK Download via IBM   Notes: The 31-bit SDK is required. Install SDK for z/OS, V1.5.

Additional Notes:

It is not necessary to download a JDK for IBM WebSphere Application Server. IBM WebSphere Application Server comes embedded with a specific version of the IBM JDK that is automatically installed and used by WebSphere.

For z/OS, there is no separate Java Runtime Environment, and therefore a JDK must be used with the SAS^® Foundation. For SAS^® Java clients and other platforms supported by the SAS Foundation, use the JRE recommendations.

Oracle requires specific versions of the JDK for WebLogic when configured on AIX. For this reason, the baseline and higher support policy does not apply to JDK used with WebLogic on AIX. You must download one of the required versions of the JDK.

On 32-bit operating systems, a 32-bit JDK is required. On 64-bit operating systems, a 64-bit JDK is required unless the JDK vendor or application server vendor does not support a 64-bit JDK. Currently those exceptions include BEA WebLogic 9.2 on HP/UX on Itanium (HP-UX 11.23, 11.31), BEA WebLogic 9.2 on Solaris 10 x64 (x86-64) and IBM WebSphere 6.1 on Solaris 9 on SPARC.
