Use the
Extract from R/3 wizard in SAS Management Console to extract SAP R/3
metadata to SAS data sets. You can use it to specify which metadata
you want to extract from your SAP R/3 System. For example, you can
extract metadata for a specific range of SAP R/3 tables. After you
pre-extract the SAP R/3 metadata, you can perform the following tasks:

Select which tables you want to
use as data sources in SAS Data Integration Studio.

Write metadata about those data
sources to your metadata repository.
Pre-extracting
your SAP R/3 metadata with the Extract from R/3 wizard improves performance
when you are browsing, and you can perform text-based searches on
extracted metadata. When you can access the SAP metadata, you can
know more about the data in your SAP R/3 tables. This knowledge helps you identify the data sources that you want to use in
SAS Data Integration Studio.
