Use the
Extract from BW wizard in SAS Management Console to extract metadata
from selected InfoCube tables and ODS objects, or from all InfoCube
tables and ODS objects in your SAP BW System. The extracted metadata
is written to SAS data sets. After the metadata is extracted, you
can use the SAP BW Register Tables wizard in SAS Data Integration
Studio to perform the following tasks:

Select data sources for SAS Data
Integration Studio.

Build jobs that load the SAP BW
data from the source tables into a SAS library.
Follow these steps
to use the Extract from BW wizard:

Select
StartProgramsSASSAS Management Console to start the SAS Management Console application.

Select
ToolsExtract from BW to start the Extract from BW wizard. The
SAP Server page displays.

From the
Configured SAP Server list box, select the configured
SAP server so that you can to connect to your SAP BW System. Click
Next.

If you
are prompted, enter the user name and password to connect to the SAS
application server that enables you to run a SAS session, and then
click
OK.

From the
SAP Metadata Location list box in the
SAS
Libraries group box, select the library into which you
want to save the extracted SAP BW metadata.

Set the
options for extracting the BW metadata:

Verify the path that displays in
the
Selected Path field. This path is associated
with the SAP BW metadata library for the directory. It identifies
the location where the extracted metadata is saved.

Select the
Merge into
Existing Metadata check box if you want to merge the
metadata into existing metadata. Do not select the check box if you
want to append the newly extracted metadata to existing metadata.

Extract all active BW metadata
or specify the name of the InfoCube or ODS object for which you want
to extract metadata.

If you
want to save the SAS code that extracts the metadata from your SAP
BW System, use the text field or the browse button to specify the
name of the SAS program. Click
Next to display
the
Wizard Finish page.

Review
the extraction parameters that you have defined. When you are satisfied
with the extraction parameters, click
Finish to begin the metadata extraction process.
