Usage Note 16210: The SAS® Business Intelligence (BI) configuration file password update tool is now available
The password update tool is now available through SAS Technical Support.
To install the file, extract the PWFile.jar and PwFileDoc.html files to
a subdirectory on the configured machine. The HTML file contains
detailed usage instructions.
See the documentation mentioned below for the affected files.
About the Password Update Tool
The password update tool is intended for use with deployments of the SAS
Intelligence Platform. The tool automates part of the password update
process for required accounts, providing an alternative to the manual
instructions documented in step 4 of the SAS Intelligence Platform:
Security Administration Guide. If you need assistance using this tool,
please contact a SAS Technical Support consultant.
The pdf file for the SAS Intelligence Platform: Security Administration
Guide is available at:
http://support.sas.com/documentation/configuration/bisecag.pdf
The information about how to update passwords for required accounts is
found online in this section of the Administration Guide:
http://support.sas.com/onlinedoc/913/docMainpage.jsp?_topic=bisecag.hlp/
a003065821.htm
To use the password update tool, you must provide:
1. The full paths to your site's two top-level locations for SAS
Intelligence Platform configuration files (your configuration
directory and your installation directory).
2. User ID and password information for each account that you are
updating. You can provide these directly in the command line or
reference them in a separate file. The passwords that you
provide should be in clear text; the tool encrypts the passwords
for you.
Note: If you run the tool without providing user ID and password
information, the program generates a list all of the user ID and
password pairs that it discovers in your configuration files.
The tool passes each user ID and new-password pair to the authentication
provider for the SAS® Metadata Server to verify that the new password
corresponds to a valid account.
The tool encrypts the passwords and then uses its internal pwfile.xml
file to locate and update all instances of the passwords in your
configuration files.
The tool generates log and error files according to your specifications.
Note: In a multi-machine deployment, you must run this tool on each
machine where the configuration wizard has been run.
You must have read and write access to the files that you are going to
modify.
