SAS® 9.2 Monitoring Integration with HP® ICE for Linux 2.x
The SAS® Enterprise Business Intelligence Platform and SAS® Business Solutions provide intelligence that drives many business activities. To keep business data flowing smoothly throughout the enterprise, it is critical that business IT administrators are able to actively monitor the underlying systems to detect and respond to anomalies in the proper functioning of critical data and analytical services.
The Enterprise Management Integration team have developed a sample integration of the SAS® 9.2 Enterprise Business Intelligence servers with HP® Insight Control Environment (ICE) for Linux 2.x. The key features within the integration package include:
- SAS server tier state and status monitoring
- SAS web application server status monitoring
- Server process log monitoring for key events and error conditions
- Alert notification features for status failures and key events
- Integration features are implemented using UNIX script language and Nagios plugins features.
HP ICE for Linux Console
SAS 9.2 Enterprise BI, with HP ICE Console
The integration model is intended to serve as a base from which customers can develop monitoring alerts and responses suitable for their business environments. SAS supplies a combination of custom plugin shell scripts, configuration files, and documentation to configure SAS server monitoring using standard HP ICE tools. This allows a high degree of user customization for particular business needs, using tools that are familiar to an experienced HP ICE/Nagios administrator.
