Logging on to the following SAS Java clients using SAS^® 9.4M8 (TS1M8) Integrated Windows Authentication support causes unexpected results:

• SAS Enterprise Miner Client 15.3
• SAS Forecast Studio 15.3
• SAS^® Forecast Project Manager 15.3
• SAS^® Time Series Studio 15.3

This issue results in the following:

• The software is suspended (spinning occurs).
• The following error message occurs:  The logon failed.

This issue prevents the clients from launching. When this issue occurs, if the Integrated Windows Authentication debug logging is enabled, log entries like the following occur in the client logs. You can find these logs in the %LocalAppData%\SAS\SASDeploymentWizard directory on the system that these clients are launched from.

Workaround

The following is a possible workaround for this issue but requires you to provide a password:

Run the kinit -f command to get a new TGT and session key from the Key Distribution Center and cache it on the file system.

Notes:

• The TGT has a limited lifespan. If you select this workaround, you must repeat this process periodically.
• Use the kinit command that is provided in the SASHOME\SASPrivateJavaRuntimeEnvironment\9.4\jre\bin directory.

After applying the hot fixes, you must add the following new property setting for each middle-tier node in order for Integrated Windows Authentication to work with the referenced SAS Java clients:

• sas.ticket.createtgt.keepoldtgt=true

Note: Whenever future hot fixes are applied or upgrades are done to the middle tier, this property change might be reverted. As a result, you might need to complete the steps again to add this property setting.
