Problem Note 71012: SAS® Add-in for Microsoft Office might remove SAS Content when other Microsoft Excel Add-ins load

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you execute a program in SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office 8.3, the results (SAS Content) are written to the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. You can review this information in the Manage Content dialog box by navigating to SAS ► Currently Open ► Manage Content, which displays the related worksheet where the results reside:

Manage Content Dialog Box

However, if you start Excel with another Excel Add-In enabled (for example, the Solver Add-In, and so on), the worksheet definition might be removed:

There are no error, warning, or note messages indicating that a problem has occurred. In addition, the SAS Content is no longer refreshable within the worksheet.

The only way to restore the SAS Content is to remove the SAS Content with the missing worksheet in the Manage Content dialog box and rerun the program to re-create the results.

Workaround

To work around this issue, do not load a Office Excel Add-In. The Excel Add-Ins that have been found to cause this issue include the following:

  • Solver Add-In
  • Analysis ToolPak
  • Analysis ToolPak VBA
  • Euro Currency Tools Add-Ins
