Installation Note 70900: The install fails during the Install Post Processing step when deploying hot fixes for SAS® Environment Manager components

This issue can occur during an upgrade in place (UIP) or when performing the Apply Hot Fixes task via SAS® Deployment Manager. This behavior was reported for both the SAS® Environment Manager M2T004 and M2T005 Hot Fixes, which are applied for the 2.5_M5 version of SAS® Environment Manager. This issue also occurs for the M2U004 Hot Fix, applied to the 2.5M4 version of the SAS® Environment Manager Agent. 

SAS Deployment Wizard or SAS Deployment Manager fails with the pop-up message below:

In addition, the IT_yyyy-mm-dd-xx.xx.xx.log might display the following error toward the bottom of the log:

To locate the log referenced in the above errors, navigate to the following location: <SASHome>/SASEnvironmentManager/2.5/hotfix/.

The referenced sasevM8_jarfix_ddMmmyyyy.xxxxxx_error.log displays messages similar to the following for several files:

Unable to locate the following jar and therefore it can not be copied: <SASConfig>/LevN/Web/SASEnvironmentManager/server-5.8.0-EE/hotfix/server-5.8.0-EE/hq-engine/hq-server/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/hq-plugins/tomcat-plugin.jar. 

Solutions

The following workarounds are available for this issue:

  • A hot fix is available to replace the affected hot fixes for this issue. If you experience the above problem when running the Apply Hot Fixes task, see the Hot Fix tab to obtain the latest hot fix.
  • If you experience this problem when running a UIP or deployment, you can run the Retrieve Hot Fixes task to update your SAS Software Depot with the latest hot fix, which also pulls down the latest hot fix for the SAS® Environment Manager component in question.

To run the Retrieve Hot Fixes task, complete the following steps:

  1. Launch SAS Deployment Wizard from the affected SAS Software Depot by running setup.exe (for Windows operating systems) or setup.sh (for UNIX operating systems).
  2. Select the options Manage this SAS Software DepotRetrieve Hot Fixes.
  3. SAS Deployment Wizard updates your depot with any hot fixes that are available and are applicable to your depot.
