An SQL procedure GROUP BY clause might produce incorrect results. In this scenario, the SAS^® log shows a message similar to the following:

An example SQL query that might trigger the issue is one that groups on a calculated column reference such as height+weight:

The expected result of this query is 18 rows, but it might result in 19 rows.

Workarounds include the following:

• Use column numbers in the GROUP BY clause. Here is an example: group by 1 
• Use column alias' in the GROUP BY clause. Here is an example: group by groupedVar
