Usage Note 70349: An import of an XLS file fails with "Requested Sheet Name not found on Excel" when the worksheet contains NLS characters
When you use SAS® 9.4 TS1M7 and import a worksheet name that contains NLS characters (such as SHEET="VÄRDERING";), an error similar to the following occurs:
Requested Sheet Name not found on Excel -> F:\<path to file>\VARDERING
Requested Input File Is Invalid
ERROR: Import unsuccessful. See SAS Log for details.
Here are a couple of possible workarounds:
- Use the EXCELCS engine (requires that the PC File Server is installed).
- Save the file as an XLSX file and use the XLSX engine.
