Problem Note 70340: The creation of very large log files in SAS® Studio could cause excessive and retained heap usage on SASServer2_1
The creation of very large log files in SAS Studio, especially those containing thousands of lines of NOTES, could cause excessive and retained heap usage on SASServer2_1. As a result, the SAS Studio interface becomes slow, or unexpected sign-outs from the user interface can occur.
Workaround
To circumvent this issue, use the PRINTTO procedure to redirect the log file. Or, run the code as a background submission via the Explorer window by right-clicking the .sas file and selecting Background Submit.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
After you install the hot fix, a new SAS system option, limitprocnotes, is available. You can use this option to mitigate the size of the logs and the problematic heap usage. You should set the limitprocnotes option to something significantly smaller than the default, 2147483647, in order to suppress notes generated by procedures and any TITLE notes.
