Problem Note 70230: SAS® 9.4M8 (TS1M8) might display an OpenSSL 3 "legacy" provider warning at initialization
When you invoke a SAS 9.4M8 session, the following warning message might be displayed at initialization:
WARNING: The OpenSSL 3 "legacy" provider could not be loaded. Certain functions may not work without ciphers from the "legacy" provider.
The warning surfaces when not all of the older encryption algorithms are available to the operating system and cannot be loaded.
SAS documents that the warning can safely be ignored. For additional information, see the following documentation.
Note that the warning cannot be suppressed. Customers have informed SAS that this problem causes issues with log-checking procedures, nonzero return codes, and an unwanted warning on validated environments.
SAS is working to remove this warning by eliminating the requirement of these old legacy providers in SAS 9.4M8.
