Problem Note 70201: A memory leak occurs in the FCMP Procedure starting in SAS® 9.4M6 (TS1M6)
Starting in SAS 9.4M6, repeatedly executing an external function defined with PROC FCMP results in a violation and an abnormal termination of the SAS session.
Testing has found that the termination occurs just under the thousandth iteration of calling the external function. The following code sample illustrates when the error can occur (where myPyFunc is the external routine that has previously been defined with PROC FCMP):
data _null_;
do i = 1 to 2000;
x = myPyFunc(i);
end;
run;
Once you encounter the error, the SAS session terminates. On Microsoft Windows systems, an event might be written to the Event Viewer with an 0xc0000005 access violation. On UNIX based environments, a traceback might be displayed with a segmentation violation.
