Problem Note 68698: Trying to insert data into an existing Teradata table might result in errors when table variable names contain more than 32 characters

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you try to insert data into an existing Teradata table, errors might result when the following is true:

  • The Teradata table contains at least one variable, which has a name that is greater than 32 characters in length.
  • You use Teradata Parallel Transporter (TPT).

Errors similar to the following might occur:

ERROR: Teradata connection: '' ('15'X) is not a valid Teradata SQL token. Correct error and restart as an APPEND process with option TPT_RESTART=YES. Since no checkpoints were taken, if the previous run used FIRSTOBS=n, use the same value in the restart.

ERROR: Teradata connection: Syntax error, expected something like '(' between the word  'InvestmentProgramAssignmentsContact' and the word 'ptlongcolumntest'. Correct error and restart as an APPEND process with option TPT_RESTART=YES. Since no checkpoints were taken, if the previous run used FIRSTOBS=n, use the same value in the restart.

The only workaround is to rename the Teradata column to a name that is 32 characters or fewer or not use TPT when loading the table.
