Using DATA step options for profile statistics might cause a SAS session to fail with a Read Access Violation.

For example, the following code can cause this issue:

options varinitchk=note dsoptions=profile;

The log then includes these messages:

ERROR: An exception has been encountered.
Please contact technical support and provide them with the following traceback information:

As a workaround, use the following syntax or comment out the DSOPTIONS= option:

options varinitchk=note dsoptions=note2err;
