Problem Note 68342: SAS® Visual Analytics might not use the browser locale when exporting data to Microsoft Excel

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you export a list table to Excel by using the option Export ► Data, SAS Visual Analytics might not use the browser locale. This issue occurs if the list table contains a data item with a date or a currency format applied.

For example, you might encounter this issue when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Create a calculated item with the format DATEN9. Here is an example: 30 August 2021.
  2. Add the calculated item into a list table.
  3. Set your browser’s language to German (for example) and select Browser locale in the SAS Visual Analytics Settings under Region and Language, as shown below:

browser settings

  1. View the report in SAS Visual Analytics. The list table displays the calculated item with the correct date format in the German language: DD.MM.YYYY (30.08.2021).

correct date format for list table

  1. Export the list table to Excel. The date data item might be displayed in English instead of in German. The following image shows the problem in the Excel workbook. The calculated item is displayed with a different format (MM/DD/YYYY) than the one that is displayed in SAS Visual Analytics (DD.MM.YYYY)

different date formats

To work around this problem, export to a CSV files rather than to XLSX files.
