Problem Note 68314: SYSDESC, SYSNAME, and SYSVALUE variables might be blank when using SASHELP.VLIBNAM or DICTIONARY.LIBNAME dictionary tables against a Teradata library
When you use the DICTIONARY.LIBNAMES dictionary table or the SASHELP.VLIBNAM associated SASHELP view, the SYSDESC, SYSNAME, and SYSVALUE variables might be blank. This issue occurs when the following is true:
- You run against a libref that accesses a Teradata database.
- Your LIBNAME statement includes the DEFER=YES option.
- The code is the first thing that you attempted with the Teradata library after it was assigned.
- You run SAS® 9.4M6 (TS1M6) Rev. 940_19w47 or later or SAS® 9.4M7 (TS1M7).
There are two workarounds:
- Use the DEFER=NO LIBNAME option.
- Use the library in a way that would require that a connection to the database be made.
