Problem Note 67930: A SAS/SHARE® server might not honor the operating system file permissions
A SAS data set residing in a library that has been allocated via a SAS/SHARE server might enable a higher level of user access than the OS file permissions should allow.
The conditions that cause this issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- An UPDATE statement in an SQL procedure
- A Change operation in a DATASETS procedure
- A Delete operation in a DATASETS procedure
In each circumstance, even though the underlying OS file permissions permit Read-Only access, the target observation or data set can be updated or deleted.
This behavior occurs only in the SAS® 9.4M5 (TS1M5) maintenance release.
