When a service task fails, the SAS® Workflow Service might return an incorrect status for the failed task. As a result, the status of the associated workflow instance in SAS Workflow Manager remains "In Progress," and you are unable to terminate the instance. The problem is more likely to occur when the failing service task is the first task in the workflow definition.
When the problem occurs, you see a message similar to the following in SAS Workflow Manager:
To work around this issue, make the initial task in a workflow definition a user task instead of a service task.
