Problem Note 66395: Long user passwords that contain Unicode characters might fail to authenticate with PAM authentication
When SAS® software is configured with pluggable authentication module (PAM) authentication, a very long user password that contains Unicode characters might fail to authenticate. After the failure, any further authentication requests to the sasauth module might also fail.
To identify that this problem is occurring, enable sasauth debug logging and then look for text that is similar to the following in the sasauth debug log:
20200717-16:35:55 Password length xxx for user yyyyyyyy is invalid.
20200717-16:35:55 Request failed: 'invalid password_length'
20200717-16:35:55 Unknown IPC request -1260079436
Note: The password length that is reported in the log will be greater than 256 characters.
A workaround is to restart the affected SAS server (usually the SAS® Metadata Server).
