Problem Note 66176: The metadata server cluster node can fail and lose quorum when you use the ImportPackage

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

You might encounter a problem in which metadata server cluster nodes do not successfully sync with each other. When you encounter this problem, you might see messages similar to the following:

WARN  [02011161] 15538:sas - <?xml version="1.0" ?><Exceptions><Exception><SASMessage severity="Error">Lost contact with the server when calling an IOM interface.</SASMessage></Exception></Exceptions>

This problem typically occurs under the following conditions:

  • You import a package that requires a large number of changes to the metadata servers.
  • You use a SAS® 9.4 deployment that contains a metadata server cluster configured with three or more cluster nodes that are in quorum and running normally.

During synchronization, the journal entries become large, which causes communication to time out.
