Problem Note 66894: PROC METALIB fails with "ERROR: Expected "'" or '"'" when table metadata is updated for DB2
When you use the METALIB procedure to update tables in the metadata, the message "ERROR: Expected "'" or '"'" occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You import a table into the metadata.
- Another table that is not imported into the metadata contains a foreign key that references the table that you imported into the metadata.
- The table that contains the foreign key has a name that is greater than 32 characters in length.
- The foreign key references a column with a name that is greater than 32 characters in length.
Note: This issue can also occur when you select Update Metadata from within SAS® Data Integration Studio or SAS® Management Console.
The only workaround is to change the table name and columns of the foreign key so that it does not exceed 32 characters in length.
